Meyronne sits along Pinto Creek in the RM of Pinto Creek No. 75, reached from Highway 611 about a mile south of Highway 13. The history of the wider Wood Mountain area goes back to 1874, when the North-West Mounted Police made their March West and set up the Wood Mountain Post that same year.
Land in the area was opened for homesteading in 1908. When the railway went through in 1913, the settlement moved to its present site.
Meyronne was long a village, and on September 5, 2006, it was reorganised as a special service area. Saskatchewan Transportation Company once provided intercity bus service to the community, before that service was dismantled.
